R.I.P Satoshi Kon

Author: Gregory Jones Jr. | Filed under: Uncategorized

As some of you may know Satoshi Kon, one of the most critically acclaimed anime directors of the decade, passed away on August 24th due to pancreatic cancer. He was 46. Kon directed four feature length animated films in his career. Perfect Blue, Millennium Actress, Tokyo Godfathers, and Paprika. He also created and directed the 13 episode anime series Paranoia Agent.

To me personally, Kon has been one of my biggest influences artistically and has long been one of my favorite directors. The anime industry has truly been met with a  great loss. From all of us here at Trapped In Japan, our hearts go out to his friends and loved ones.

Space Pirate Captain Harlock Movie

Author: Evan Mapoy | Filed under: Anime, Japan, Trailer

No Seriously, when did Captain Harlock become so EPIC? The estimated release date is 2012, directed by Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed EX Machina), characters designed by Yutaka Minowa (Ninja Scroll)  and written by Harutoshi Fukui (Mobile Suit Gundam UC). We’ve got two years left to go and I’m ALREADY impatient.
